The First University Collection of a Currency Museum in Hainan Province Unveiled in HUE
The Currency Museum of Haikou University of Economics, with collection donated by Mr. Guan Yuehui, President of the Hainan Alumni of Returned Overseas Students, is opened on 23rd October in Haikou University of Economics Library.
As the first Currency Museum set up by a university in Hainan province, it is a non-profit museum that collects and displays Chinese currency in the different periods of Chinese history. It is also for the purpose of research and study. The museum currency collection is from the Pre-Qin period to the People's Republic of China today. The exhibits are displayed in the order of historical development, including some currency from the countries along the “Belt and Road” region. One could trace the rise and fall of dynasties from the collection of the currency in various forms, and experience the cultural heritage and social changes in history.
At the inauguration, the collection was unveiled after the ribbon cutting ceremony. Prof. Cao Chengjie, Chairman of HUE and Mr. Peng Jingyi, Executive President of HUE awarded honourary certificates to the donator and members of the Currency Museum Research Centre. Leaders from related government organizations had also attended the opening ceremony of the museum.
