In order to further promote the internationalization process and build an international academic exchange platform for teachers and students, Haikou University of Economics held an online meeting with Dongseo University of South Korea in the afternoon of December 22^nd. Both parties reached the intention of cooperation and signed a MOU.

Mr. Zhu Huayou, HUE Executive President, presided over the meeting and introduced the development of Haikou University of Economics. He said that Haikou University of Economics gives full play to its cultural and geographical advantages and vigorously promotes educational exchanges and cooperation with universities of various countries under the background of the Belt and Road initiative. So far, it has established cooperative relations with more than 60 universities and educational institutions in South Korea, Germany, Britain, Thailand and Malaysia, and signed cooperation agreements with 40 foreign universities. President Zhu also introduced the Fifth China-Asean University Students’ Culture Week ended recently, the annual Island Economic Forum, the Education Cooperation Forum with ASEAN Countries. He invited Korean scholars to participate in all these international activities held by HUE, jointly creating an important brand of international cultural and educational exchanges in Hainan.

Vice President Kim Jeong-sun introduced Dongseo University in detail. She said that the university has identified information technology, film, video, and design as its special fields of development since its inception, and after 15 years of unremitting efforts, Dongseo University has become one of the top private universities in Korea. The university focuses on cultivating well-developed, practice-oriented professional talents, and is committed to developing and researching educational courses with characteristics. It has formed a professional subject group featuring the development of digital content, supported by practical teaching, and integrated with production, education and research. There are 49 undergraduate programmes, 14 master programmes in 4 graduate schools, and 6 doctoral programmes in 2 doctoral schools. The university has signed academic exchange agreements with 66 universities and research institutes from 17 countries including the U.S., Germany, and Japan to conduct exchange visits and joint research projects between professors and students.
      The two sides agreed that "globalization, informatization and specialization" should be the basis and direction of cooperation between the two universities. By making full use of international cooperation channels, giving full play to the advantages of educational resources and regional development policies of both sides, Haikou University of Economics and Dongseo University will actively carry out academic studies and exchange activities between teachers and students, and further improve the international level of education of the two schools.
