Haikou University of Economics (HUE), located in Jiangdong new district of Haikou, the core start-up construction area of Hainan Pilot Free Trade Zone (Port), is a private university based on undergraduate programmes covering such specific academic ranges as economics, management, engineering, literature, the arts and education, etc. Founded in 1974, HUE consists of 12 colleges and schools with 47 undergraduate programmes, recruiting students from 27 provinces nationwide. There are currently 24,000 full-time students in the school campus. HUE boasts of beautiful campus environment, with well-equipped teaching facilities and professional experimental laboratories. The school library has a collection of more than 1.524 million hard copy books and 1.9 million electronic books; cultural and sports facilities are complete with gymnasium, swimming pools, concert halls, stadium, as well as qualified development training base. HUE is an ideal academic and living centre for young students both home and abroad. 

In order to promote education exchange, Haikou University has set up a Chinese Language Training Class for international students. Students of this class who pass the Chinese language proficiency test of HSK4,after one year (or less)training, can apply for government scholarship or university scholarship and continue their study in certain undergraduate programmes in Haikou University of Economics.

Teaching Course Overview

1. Course levels: elementary and intermediate. Students are divided into two classes, elementary and intermediate, according to their Chinese level.

2. Period of schooling: one academic year/ one semester.

3. Target proficiency: Target proficiency: the elementary Chinese class focuses on the training of basic Chinese language knowledge, and the achievement of HSK2 level after the completion of the course. While continuing to consolidate the basic Chinese language knowledge, the intermediate Chinese class also strengthens the improvement of reading and writing ability in order that the students could pass HSK4 level after the completion of course.

4. Curriculum setting: systematic teaching of Chinese language is carried out by combining listening, speaking, reading, writing and comprehensive courses. Meanwhile, Chinese culture study or practical language activities are arranged accordingly.

Teaching Arrangement

More than 20 class hours from Monday to Friday will be arranged in each week and auxiliary classes added at times according to teaching requirement. There is extracurricular activity once or twice a week (Chinese corner) as a supplement for further enrichment of language practice.

Admission Requirements

Foreign students who are healthy, well-behaved, with no criminal record, willing to abide by the Chinese laws and school regulations, and respect Chinese people's customs and habits are qualified to apply for scholarship to study in the Chinese Language Training Class. 

Time for Application

Students may apply and register at any time and no registration or enrollment fees will be charged.

        The elementary class is from March to June and the intermediate class is from September to December. The Chinese level of the students enrolled in September is better to reach HSK level 2.

Application Procedure

Please send the following application materials to 513616253@qq.com (the application materials will not be returned regardless of admission approval):

1. Application Form for International Students of Haikou University of Economics(please ask for this form by contacting the above email address or coming to the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation of HUE)

2.  Copies of applicant's passport or identity document;

3.  One bareheaded, white-background, electronic photo of recent passport.

4.  Scanning copies of High school(or Vocational school) graduation  certificate and transcripts.

5. A certificate of medical examination within six months (in English or Chinese).

6.Students who has the intention to apply for government scholarship and continue their study in undergraduate programmes in HUE after Chinese Language Training Class study with HSK4 examination results, are required to provide NOTARIZED  high school graduation  certificates and school transcripts.

Admission Procedure

International students who have confirmed their admission shall go through the admission process according to the following procedures with the Admission Letter issued by HUE authority:

1. 1.Hand in 4 bareheaded, white-background photos (3.3*4.8cm);
2. 2.On the first day of your arrival, please hand in the textbook fee(600 RMB), insurance fee(580-800 RMB/year) and dormitory fee.

HUE provides students 2 types of dormitory. 

Type 1: Dormitory of 4 persons/room, including bathroom, separate writing desk, bed, air conditioner, water heater, washing machine, water dispenser, fan, etc. The dormitory fee is 2,800 RMB per person/year. 

Type 2: Hotel standard two beds room with an open kitchen counter, which provides microwave oven, wardrobe, bathroom, separate writing desk, bed, air conditioner, water heater, water dispenser and fan, etc. The dormitory fee is 5,600 RMB per person/year.

Scholarship and Tuition Fees

HUE maintains 20 full scholarships for one-year Chinese language training class every year, which are awarded to students who are most qualified and apply in advance. The annual tuition fee of 19,000 RMB is thus waived.

HUE provides half-scholarship, waiver of 50% of the tuition fee, for students who fail to obtain the full scholarship. Students get half-scholarship may only pay 9,500 RMB for the academic year (4,750 RMB per semester).

HUE provides special scholarships for overseas Chinese descendants. The scholarship is provided by the government of Hainan Province to support Chinese Language study for overseas Chinese. The waived fees include: tuition (19,000 RMB/year), dormitory (2,800 RMB/year), textbook, insurance and medical examination. Students applying for this scholarship must be outstanding students who also meet the above-mentioned basic requirements.

Note：The Chinese Language Training Class will only be taught ONLINE due to Covid-19 pandemic, thus students will not be asked to come to school for the present!!

海口经济学院来华留学生汉语培训班招生简章

海口经济学院地处海南自由贸易试验区（港）建设的核心启动区：江东新区，是一所以经济和管理类专业为主，含经济、管理、工学、文学、艺术和教育等多学科协调发展的民办本科高校。学校创办于1974年，下设12个二级学院，47个本科专业，面向全国27个省、市、自治区招生，目前有全日制在校生2.4万人。海口经济学院校园环境优美，教学设备设施及各专业实验实训室建设完备；图书馆环境优雅，馆藏纸质图书152.4万余册，电子图书190万余册；训练馆、游泳馆、音乐厅、运动场及素质拓展训练基地等文化体育设施一应俱全。教学设备的先进和生活设施的完善，使海经院成为青年学子理想的求学胜地。

海口经济学院专门为外国留学生设立汉语语言培训班，留学生在学校经过汉语培训并通过汉语水平考试（HSK）4级者，可申请海南省政府奖学金或学校的大学奖学金进入海口经济学院相关本科专业学习。

一、课程概况

1.课程等级：初级、中级。学校根据学生的汉语基础将学生分成初级汉语、中级汉语两个层次进行培训。

２. 学习期限：一学年／一学期

３. 学习目标：汉语初级班注重汉语基础知识的训练，结业达到HSK2级。汉语中级班在继续巩固汉语基础知识的同时，加强阅读技能的提高和写作能力的培养，结业达到HSK4级。

４.课程设置：以听说读写课及综合课相结合的课型模式进行汉语言系统教学，同时不定期安排中国文化考察或课外语言实践活动。

二、课时安排

每周周一至周五共20节以上的课堂教学；另根据实际情况，增设部分其它辅助课程。每周一到两次课外语言实践活动（汉语角）。

学生可参加学校组织的其它课外活动。

三、入学条件

身体健康、品行端正、无犯罪记录，愿意遵守中国的法律法规及学校纪律，尊重中国风俗习惯的外籍青年。

1. 四.报名时间

随时报名，不收取报名费。

每年3月初或9月初入学。每年3月-6月为初级班，9月-12月为中级班，选择9月入学的学生，汉语最好达到HSK2级水平。

五、申请流程

发送以下申请材料至513616253@qq.com（无论是否录取，申请材料恕不退还）：

1. 《海口经济学院来华留学生入学申请表》（可发送邮件至上述邮箱询要此表，或到国际交流合作处办公室领取、填写）

2.  申请人护照复印件；

3.  近期护照用免冠白底电子照片1张；

4.  提供高中或高中同等学力的毕业证明和成绩单扫描件；

5.  近六个月内的体检证明（包含中文或英文）;

6.  通过HSK4级后，如希望直升我校本科并申请省政府奖学金或本校奖学金的学生，需提供高中或高中同等学力的毕业证明和成绩单的公证原件。

六、入学流程

确认被录取的留学生持《录取通知书》，按以下程序办理入学手续：

1. 提交免冠白底照片4张（3.3*4.8cm）；

2. 入学第一天缴纳教材费（600元）、保险费（580元-800元）和住宿费。学校提供两种宿舍：1. 学校提供两种宿舍：1.学生宿舍4人间，含卫生间、独立写字台、床、空调、热水器、洗衣机、饮水机、电扇等，费用每人每学年2,800元。2.宾馆式2人标间，费用为每人每学年5,600元，含卫生间、独立写字台、床、大衣柜、空调、热水器、饮水机、电扇，内配敞开式厨房操作台、微波炉。

七、奖学金及学费

学校每学年保持20个汉语培训班的全额大学奖学金名额，提供给优先报名并符合条件的优秀学生，免去其19,000元的全年学费。

学校为未能获得全额大学奖学金的学生提供半额奖学金9,500元，即每学年只需缴纳9,500元人民币的半额学费（每学期4,750元）。

学校为海外华裔子弟特别提供专项奖学金。此奖学金是由海南省统战部特批的、支持华裔子弟汉语文化学习的奖学金，免除的费用包括：19,000元/学年的学费，2,800元/学年的住宿费，教材费，保险费，体检费。申请此项奖学金的留学生必须是满足上述基本条件的优秀的华裔子弟。

注：受疫情影响，授课方式暂时以线上课进行，学生目前无需来校！！
